LED lines fanning from a narrow point on one building wall across the plaza gap, viewed from the street at night

Description

Parallel lines of LED neon flex span the open-air gap between two buildings at Court Street Plaza, forming a luminous canopy over the pedestrian passageway below. The strips are mounted at staggered heights across the two building walls, creating a dramatic perceptual illusion: viewed from the street, the lines appear to curve, fan, and twist through space. But as you walk underneath, the apparent curves resolve into straight, evenly spaced parallel lines overhead. The piece rewards movement—your perception of its geometry shifts continuously as you pass through.

Concept

A study in perspective and perceptual illusion. The same physical structure reads as dynamic curves from a distance and calm parallel lines from within, inviting pedestrians to experience the space between two buildings as an ever-shifting optical event.
